CIERRA (Cyber-Infrastructure Education, Recruitment, Retention, Advancement)

The CIERRA Corps is an Educational Outreach and Training (EOT) resource network of the National University Community Research Institute (NUCRI) and its partners.

The purpose of the initiative is to broaden participation in the Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM) fields and advocate the integration of STEM disciplines with the Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.

More specifically, CIERRA is designed to identify, engage, and develop middle and high school students and teachers, community practitioners, and citizen advocates for learning, discovery, competitive workforce development, and smart community building.

The EOT focus is on professional development through STEM familiarization courses, new interactive curricula, experiential and service learning for sustainable improvement and appreciating the interdisciplinary nature knowledge and the interdependence of people.

The Program begins with the 2008-09 GLOBE K-12 Science Education program for the TEAMS AmeriCorps Fellows.

AmeriCorps Alumni and CIERRA Corps Fellows are eligible to receive Professional Development Extension (PDX) scholarships and stipends, participate supported by related NUCRI Partner projects and initiatives.
